Ferrari’s First Electric Car Sells for Record $40 Million

One-off Luce Chassis 0 becomes the most expensive new car sold at auction

Ferrari’s first fully electric model has generated major attention after the one-off Luce “Chassis 0” sold for $40 million at a charity auction during Monterey Car Week.

The sale broke the previous record for a new car sold at auction, which was set by a customised Ferrari Daytona SP3 at $26 million.

Ferrari unveiled the Luce in May with a starting price of around €550,000, marking the luxury automaker’s entry into fully electric vehicles. The car features more than 1,000 horsepower and four doors.

All proceeds from the $40 million auction will go to the Ferrari Foundation to support future educational initiatives.

The sale highlights the enormous value that collectors can place on limited-production vehicles while also signalling the growing commercial importance of electric technology within the luxury automotive industry.
