Kingdom focuses on turning AI spending into economic returns
Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding artificial-intelligence sector is increasingly being assessed not just by the size of its investment but by the economic returns those investments can generate.
Saudi Arabia has designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, placing AI at the centre of its economic-development strategy. The Kingdom is investing heavily in AI software, infrastructure, computing capacity and talent.
The current focus is shifting toward practical applications of AI across government services, finance, healthcare, energy, industrial operations and other sectors.
Saudi technology leaders speaking during LEAP 2026 have also highlighted the development of an ecosystem that combines AI infrastructure, industrial applications, cybersecurity and locally developed models.
For businesses, this creates opportunities for AI startups, software companies, consultants, cloud providers, data specialists and companies capable of applying AI to existing business processes.
