Red Sea development becomes part of Saudi Arabia’s AI infrastructure strategy

Saudi AI company HUMAIN and digital infrastructure provider DataVolt have partnered to develop approximately 100 MW of data-centre capacity during the first phase of a planned facility at Oxagon, part of NEOM on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.

The facility is expected to become operational in 2028 and will incorporate renewable energy, advanced cooling technology and high-performance computing infrastructure. It will form part of DataVolt’s planned 360 MW first-phase AI campus, within a broader 1.5 GW development.

The project highlights Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a major global destination for AI computing infrastructure.

Oxagon’s location also provides access to subsea cable connectivity, helping support low-latency data connections.

For the business ecosystem, large-scale AI infrastructure could attract cloud companies, software developers, chip suppliers, cybersecurity firms and AI startups to Saudi Arabia.
