Electricity network planned for one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest international projects

Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement covering electricity infrastructure for the Expo 2030 Riyadh site, marking another major step in preparations for the international event.

The planned infrastructure includes a main electricity supply substation, three primary substations, transmission networks and distribution networks.

The Expo site covers approximately 6 million square metres, making the electricity infrastructure project an important component of Riyadh’s long-term development programme.

Expo 2030 Riyadh is scheduled to run from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031 and is expected to attract visitors from around the world.

The project is also significant from a business perspective. Large-scale infrastructure development creates opportunities for engineering companies, construction firms, energy suppliers, technology providers, consultants, transport companies and hospitality businesses.

The investment demonstrates how Saudi Arabia continues using major international projects to accelerate infrastructure development and economic diversification under Vision 2030.
